Description:
This student film, made by Jonathan Lopez, uses archival footage from the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, paired with narration from the filmmaker's father, Jesse Lopez, to chronicle the life of Jesse's sister, Janie, who was killed by her husband at a very young age in San Antonio. Jesse describes her many qualities and tells the harrowing story of the day she was murdered. The filmmaker uses intertitles with selected quotations from the narration and a Charles Bukowski poem to emphasize the emotion of Janie's death. Footage in this film comes from the Stack Family Films, The Peggy Shiman Collection, The Ludeke Family Collection, and the National Archives and Records Administration.
